Can you give us some information about Sunteks?
Our company has been in the cardboard tube sector since 1990 in Adana, Istanbul, Tekirdağ, Gaziantep and Balıkesir in Turkey. Sunteks continues its production abroad in United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia also. Sunteks has established gray cardboard production factory to satisfy our need for raw materials to reduce external dependence on gray cardboard and has become one of the major players in the sector.
How did the ERP Software need arise?
The issue of using ERP software came up when Bursa location was established. We were an old company in the sector but Bursa location was established with a completely new vision. In order to become the market leader by becoming institutionalized, the support of the management was great and it was decided to receive consultancy from Trovarit.
How did you know abour IAS and caniasERP?
The domestic software company IAS's caniasERP product was among the options offered by Trovarit. We were also informed about caniasERP because it was also used by several customers in the packaging industry.
Which parts of the software did impress you at DEMO meetings?
While the standard software responds to our many needs, the fact that caniasERP has an extremely flexible structure has been the most influential feature for us.
What were your selection criteria during the ERP acquisition process? What was your reason for choosing IAS?
Being a local company, the price / performance ratio of the program and the possibility for the user to intervene in the system played a role in our choice of IAS. The fact that updates are carried out free of charge within the scope of annual maintenance cost is also an important factor.
Can you give information about the duration of the project?
After almost six months of implementation, we started to use the sales module and started to create our invoices on the system. Then, we started production, quality, planning and purchasing processes. The accounting department used it parallel to the old system for a while and was completely switched to caniasERP as of the following year.
What changes have you experienced in your company structure from the beginning of the transition to ERP system? How would you rate this process?
The project has spread to all locations where our company operates and a standardization and integration have been realized. This led to both an increase in product quality and a more manageable process. It also helped to clarify tasks and responsibilities by eliminating the dependence on individuals.
What applications are you currently using via caniasERP? Did your company produce customized solutions? What work was done?
Production and quality module changed the way we do business. In general, we tried to use the standard, no significant changes were made in the existing modules. The standard software of caniasERP was able to meet all the needs of our company.
What has changed in your company with the caniasERP project?
First of all, the existing process specifications have been recorded and standardized. Accordingly, an increase in product quality has been achieved. The inter-location integration has been reflected in planning activities and the turnover has been faster and the terms have been shorter. Thanks to the increase in reporting opportunities, senior management has been supported in the decision-making process. If I defined the changes that occur with caniasERP in short, it would be “being fast”.
How do you assess the impact of digitalization on institutionalization?
With the help of digitalization, the process of institutionalization has started to be more democratic. In this way, companies can gain corporate identity without having to invest much in staff and consultancy services regardless of their scale. Digitalization has made information easy to access.
What are your future plans and objectives for the project?
As you know, mobility is very important now. Some of our parts would not be complete without our smartphones. For this reason, we want to take this step in the project. We want users to be able to take advantage of the opportunities offered by ERP without having to use their computers and integrate them with existing mobile applications. For a company that wants to grow and brand, ERP is a must. In this way, they can increase their production quality and reply fast to the customer demands and expectations. They can also comment on past data and interpret them and take steps in this direction.
What kind of advice do you want to give to the companies about ERP usage in your sector? Do you recommend caniasERP to the other companies?
My advice is that you should start the project from any point. Don't waste time waiting for all conditions to be ready. Because this is a bidirectional process. While adapting the ERP software to their own business processes and also adapting the company’s system into ERP system, companies can maximize their benefits. I would definitely recommend caniasERP because of the price / performance ratio and flexibility.
