Synergy from centralized data
A Bill of Materials is a depiction of the multiple components
making up a product. The CANIAS ERP BOM Management
module meets the advanced requirements of organizations
creating, using and maintaining BOMs. Each department
having responsibility in completion of a manufacturing task
can be specified in the production structure of a BOM.
Within the CANIAS ERP BOM Management module,
complex production structures can be created by
interconnecting multiple single level structures. BOM explosion feature determines the display of BOMs at
various levels. Users may define multiple types of BOMs
such as alternative, multiple, product set and variant
BOMs.
Bill of Materials types can also be defined to allow precise
differentiation for use in distinct types of processing. You
can improve the efficiency of your operations by creating
product trees (BOMs) specifically targeted for design,
production, cost calculation, and spare parts. Specialized
bills of material are also available for sales sets and
contract manufacturing.
Process control
Engineering system parameters are used to indicate
Bills of Materials to be employed for the specific
department associated with a task. This allows precise
determination of the current stage of a BOM within the
prescribed process stages (i.e. design, planning or
manufacturing).
History management, a common feature of the CANIAS
ERP system, can also be used with the Bill of Materials
Management module for efficient management and
tracking of all changes made within validity period
associated with a BOM.
Where-used lists, component substitution, BOM
decomposition, retrospective analysis and a host of other
features allow high performance product trees to be created, used and maintained. Product trees can also be
graphically displayed and printed.
For materials with accompanying route information and
BOMs, the module automatically creates the necessary
production network plans. These network plans are
accessible through the materials master as well as by using
the dynamic production control functions. Completed
processes are displayed clearly using highlighting.
Individual variant configuration
Variant configuration facilitates management of inventory
items having multiple attributes (e.g. color, size, or vendor)
using a single stock code, while allowing users to track
various quantities separately.
Individual variant configuration functionality within the BOM
Management module helps for unrestricted specification of
available component choices for variant type items, and
allows creation of user-specific variant templates. Each
component can be created with a default value which can
later be modified, and complex variants can be created
using highly specific rules.
User-friendly data entry screens eliminate the need for
specialized training for users. These interactive screens
provide users with only those options that apply to the
product being built, resulting in efficient and convenient
operations where errors are minimized.
The integrated reporting wizard facilitates generation of
analytical reports including materials analysis and material
where-used reports. Users may also drill down into
product trees and analyze the various levels of
semi-finished items and their component items used
in the product tree.
