Quality assurance delivering competitive advantage
Quality assurance for all industries and businesses
CAQ stands for Computer Aided Quality which depicts the
realization of TQM (Total Quality Management) aided by IT
solutions. In today's competitive environment where
products and services are increasingly converging and
competition extends beyond geographic boundaries,
quality is predominantly becoming the defining aspect. As
a result, management of quality in organizations is
gaining importance and is becoming an inherent part of
management philosophy. In the course of increasing
quality awareness, organizations implement more and
more IT systems to guarantee a high level of coordination
among diverse business domains. As there are both ERP
and Quality Management processes intertwined, most of
the CAQ systems offer interfaces to ERP solutions. The
CANIAS ERP system includes its own CAQ module that
provides specific quality assurance support for inventory
management, purchasing, production and service. Built-in
Quality Assurance (QA) integration eliminates costly
investment in third-party software systems and
non-compatible data storage.
Flawless processes for guaranteed quality
Based on the quality assurance processes in the CANIAS
ERP CAQ Module, materials that have been purchased or
produced but not inspected for quality assurance are held
in quality inventory. On successful completion of quality
assurance checks, these materials are subsequently
transferred to general purpose inventory. In case of failed
quality assurance checks, materials are transferred to
rejected inventory for return processing. In this manner the business processes for accepting suitable materials
for use in production or distribution, and rejecting
non-conforming materials for return to suppliers, are
placed under process management. Check tables
facilitate centralized management of QA activities
including inspection criteria and instructions, failure
catalogs, inspection scope and texts. All materials
related QA data is stored in the article master and
quality control plans are administered in the integrated
Document Management System. Accordingly, decisions
involving analysis of materials during procurement, as
well as details of quality inspections for finished
products, can all be accomplished ahead of the business
processes that are next in line.
Quality control in goods inwards
QA activities start with materials acceptance, which in turn provides various options for system analysis
activities. For example, ability to dynamically carry
out quality analysis by skip lot checks facilitates with
precision the quality checking on incoming goods.
Inspections can be carried out on qualitative and
quantitative basis. Unrestricted specification of fault
categories allow for individual evaluation and
classification of the suppliers. Quality control plans
support QA business processes and optimize inspection
effort.
