IAS and MySQL sign cooperation contract
July 2003
Industrial Application Software
(IAS), a supplier of world-class ERP II solutions for medium-sized
businesses, and the company MySQL, the best known supplier
of open-source databases, have signed a licensing agreement
in Karlsruhe which paves the way for a package of services
hitertho unique in the ERP sector.
New customers will receive a licence for MySQL Pro. This software
contains the database engine InnoDb, which allows various
transactions to be performed. The full-blown ERP solution
CANIAS ERP, whose range of functions can compete with any
of the major market leaders, has already proved an economical
program for medium-sized businesses due to its customer-friendly
licence model, the concurrent network user licence, and its
independence in terms of platform technology, made possible
by the use of Linux operating systems.
With MySQL, customers are now getting an even more efficient
database database solution. The IAS decided on this move once
it became clear that the planned releases of MySQL up to 5.0
would meet all the criteria of an efficient database system
from rollback through views to stored procedures. This not
only ensures full support for new installations of CANIAS
ERP, but also replacements of old databases. IAS even has
the technology to allow several different database systems
to be optionally accessed in an installation, e.g. in order
to continue using data from older system environments without
having to transfer them, or to support parallel database concepts
of amalgamated networks.
IAS and MySQL will also be demonstrating the benefits of this
pooling of resources at the Systems 2003 fair in Munich from
20 - 24 October.
