CANIAS ERP goes PDA
May 2003
The mere reference to the fact that
HTML pages also can be inherently displayed on a Web organizer
or PDA (making a browser-based solution automatically PDA-capable)
does not qualify as a practical argument, according to the
e-business experts at Industrial Application Software.
Here, the size of the display oftentimes does not allow for
user interaction with a standard Web interface, and the hardware
resources (especially RAM) of many PDAs in use typically are
still designed such that only specially configured interaction
concepts (whereby applications with registering access greatly
distinguish themselves from pure display applications) provide
sufficient performance.
Making matters more complicated is the fact that a PDA usually
has a wireless Internet connection, the bandwidths of which
vary considerably from those of a notebook or a remote client
connection.
For this reason, Industrial Application Software GmbH has,
in accordance with customer requirements, not only developed
suitable transactions that provide a sensible selection of
features for customer and supplier integration; with special
Web server concepts, IAS also ensures that access is simple,
yet high in performance.
